How to improve the bonding strength between gypsum self-leveling and the base layer?

Publish Time: 2024-12-11
In the field of construction and decoration, the bonding strength between gypsum self-leveling and the base layer is crucial to the quality and durability of ground projects.

First of all, grassroots treatment is the critical first step. The base layer must be solid, flat, dry and free of dust, oil and other impurities. For example, for concrete base, you need to use a grinder to remove the loose layer on the surface, and then use a vacuum cleaner to clean it thoroughly. If there are cracks or holes in the base, they should be filled and repaired in advance with repair mortar to provide a good adhesion foundation for gypsum self-leveling, which is just as important as laying a solid foundation before building a high-rise building.

Secondly, choose the appropriate interface agent. The interface agent can form a transition layer between the base layer and gypsum self-leveling to enhance the adhesion between the two. A high-quality interface agent should have good permeability and can penetrate deep into the pores of the base layer and form a strong anchor point after curing. At the same time, its chemical compatibility with gypsum self-leveling is better to avoid delamination. For example, certain polymer-modified interface agents can significantly improve the bonding effect and make gypsum self-leveling better adhere to the base layer.

Furthermore, the formula optimization of gypsum self-leveling cannot be ignored. Add an appropriate amount of adhesion enhancer, such as redispersible latex powder, to the formula. It can form a polymer film during the hydration process, wrap the gypsum particles and interweave with the surface of the base layer, just like weaving a tight network between the two, effectively improving the bonding strength. At the same time, controlling the fineness and purity of gypsum to ensure that its hydration reaction is sufficient and uniform will also help improve the overall bonding performance.

Construction technology has a direct impact on bond strength. When pouring gypsum self-leveling, ensure uniform distribution to avoid local accumulation or uneven thickness. Use a special toothed scraper to scrape the surface in accordance with the specified direction and strength, so that the gypsum self-leveling and the interface agent are fully contacted and compacted, and the internal air is eliminated to prevent weak bonding due to residual air bubbles.

Environmental factors also need to be considered. The construction environment should be maintained within a suitable temperature and humidity range, with the general temperature between 5°C and 35°C and the relative humidity not higher than 80%. Too low a temperature will delay the hydration reaction of gypsum and affect the formation of bond strength; too high a humidity may cause the base layer to become damp and reduce the bonding effect.

Post-care is also essential. After the initial setting of gypsum self-leveling, moisturizing and maintenance should be carried out in time, and methods such as covering with plastic film can be used to prevent excessive moisture loss. Proper maintenance can fully hydrate and harden gypsum self-leveling, further enhancing the bonding strength with the base layer and ensuring long-term stability and reliability of the ground.
